COMMUNITY WOODLAND AND COMMUNITY PARK

Gracemount Community Woodland

On the grounds of The Mansion we have a Gracemount Community Woodland area boasting a range of protected trees, some being centuries old:

  • Jeffrey pine tree (one of the only two in Scotland);
  • Monkey puzzle;
  • Cedar of Lebanon;
  • walnut,
  • the mighty oak,
  • sycamore,
  • chestnut, and
  • many more

We are planning to:

  • Retain the woodland area and protected Trees for horticultural and educational activities
  • Provide a woodland walkway around the site and connecting to the network of wider walkways and cycle paths around Edinburgh
  • Continue to offer the greenspaces to local volunteering, social enterprise and business groups, providing a range of activities and events

Gracemount Community Park

Gracemount Community Park is also part of The Mansion grounds.  It was formally the Orchard.

We are looking to:

  • re-establish a small Orchard providing a focal point whilst maintaining the community park as a gathering space, where people and nature successfully work together

  • offer the community park area to local volunteering, social enterprise and business groups, providing a range of activities and events
